Get Mentoring

In order to really maximize your chances for success, you’ll need a mentor. And we’re here to help you find the perfect one.

How to get started:

  1. Complete 30-60 minutes of research about your idea. How are people currently solving this problem? How satisfied are they with the current solution? How much money is spent to resolve it? Is your idea patentable? Has anyone patented it already?
  2. Write up a Business Summary describing your idea and answer the questions below. (It is the view of many faculty, mentors, and business leaders that if students cannot articulate their idea in a short written summary, then they probably don’t understand it.)
    1. What is your business concept? What pain does it solve?
    2. How does it differ from other alternatives in the market?
    3. Who are your potential customers?
    4. How will you potentially make money and how will you be paid?
    5. What marketplace will you be in? Who are your key competitors from your research?
    6. Who is on your management team? (Note: many outside competitions require grad students be part of the team.)
  3. Register for mentoring and and accept the code of conduct. (If you’ve followed all the steps above, you’re already halfway done with this part.)
  4. Once you’ve done enough validation, we’ll pair you up with just the right mentor for your needs. (This might be a working professional, a CEO, a former founder, a current entrepreneur, etc.)
